Summary: | This report is a collection of five different research reports which are based on the experiences and measurements during and after the Huurre Expedition to the North Pole in 1984. Two reports are dealing with snow studies. Snow samples have been collected during the expedition. The first research has been made at Finnish Meteorological Institute and Technical Research Centre of Finland. Inorganic ions of snow have been tested at laboratories. In the other study there have been tested organochlorine pollutants in snow, which has been done at University of Jyväskylä. One report deals with ice research. Observations of ice have been made during the expedition both by man and satellite. The research has been made at Technical Research Centre of Finland and University of Alai. Two studies ate dealing with human body. One is a research of clothing and heat loss from body. It has been carried out by Technical Research Centre of Finland. The other deals with the cold acclimatization of three explorers. The study has been made at Oulu Regional Institute of Occupational Health.
