Anatidae šeimos mitochondrinės DNR kontrolinio regiono panaudojimo galimybės

Genetic diversity in biology is one of the most important indicators for ecologists to assess the condition of populations. Usually it is assessed using molecular markers, which are particular DNA sequences that differ among individuals of the same or of different species. The control region of mito...

Usually it is assessed using molecular markers, which are particular DNA sequences that differ among individuals of the same or of different species. The control region of mitochondrial DNA is often used for the matter, especially when determining the overall genetic diversity, instead of the investigations into precise genetic relationships between individuals. State Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic of Lithuania, in cooperation with The Nature Research Centre, provides the scientists with an opportunity to acquire bird samples for identification and for population research. In this work 7 swans found dead were used, two of which have expressed exceptional morphological traits. In Belgium, the barnacle geese have recently attracted the attention of scientists for the pestilent behaviour in farmers' crops. In this work 69 specimen of these birds were used to broaden the understanding about the state of the population of these birds. In this thesis the research results of interspecific and intraspecific genetic diversity of Anatidae species barnacle geese Branta leucopsis, mute swans Cygnus olor and black-necked swans Cygnus melancoryphus carried out using mtDNA control region sequences are presented.
