Description
Summary:The paper is concerned with a description of females and males of a new subspecies Culicoides grisescens flavus (Diptera, Ceratopogonidae) which differs from the typical form of C. grisescens (C. g. grisescens E d w.) in colouration of head, thorax, abdomen, legs, wings pattern in males and females. As distinct from C. grisescens grisescens E d w. which is typical of the Palearctic part of the Circumboreal subregion of Holarctics and is especially numerous in taiga, the new subspecies inhibits probably exclusively open landscapes and is typical of steppes of the Central-Asian subregion. Both of subspecies are met on the boundary of areas of distribution.
