Description
Summary:Description: Tall thin totem pole decorated with various abstract forms and formalised animal and facial features cut in the surface of the lower part (upper part plain). Flying eagle fixed at top, circular arrangement of stones inlaid in concrete at base. Additional Information: Example of Nishga carving from British Columbia. Totem Pole embodies social, mythological and religious concepts associated with Canada's traditional Indian culture. Animal forms represent killer whale at the base - monarch of the sea - and eagle at the top - monarch of the air. The garden in which the memorial stands is planted with trees and plants indigenous to Canada and reflecting its diversity.
