Description
Summary:Filed in Ships - Y The S.S. Yukon was built in 1879 as the M.F. Plant, which included service during the Spanish American War. As the M.F. Plant, she suffered several accidents, which earned her a reputation as a bad luck vessel of the Pacific. She was rebuilt in 1911 and returned to service the following year as the Yukon under ownership of the Alaska Coast Steamship Company. Although she was intended to overcome her poor reputation, the Yukon ran ashore after striking a reef near Sannak Island on June 18, 1913, which ended her career.
