In the letter, he offers "our heartiest wish for the most delightful outing of your lives" and encloses an official A.Y.P. flag which he requests Curtis place at the summit of Rainier. Wood states "we can but appreciate how fitting it is that the Exposition which, in its beauty has reached the highest point among the Expositions of the country, should have its flag floated higher probably than any flag has ever floated in these United States." The Alaska Yukon Pacific exposition was Seattle's first World's Fair and ran from June 1 to October 16 on the University of Washington campus in Seattle. It celebrated the prosperity of the region following the 1897 Alaska Gold Rush and had over three million visitors. Among the many attractions were carnival rides, cultural exhibits and baby incubators. Other/Unknown Material Alaska Yukon University of Washington, Seattle: Digital Collections Yukon Pacific
