Description
Summary:Retouched photograph. PH Coll 246.53 [Meed journal: "On the hillside back of Dawson. Winter scene. While the owner of this cabin was away "up the creeks", a live spring sprouted up through the floor, the water freezing constantly as the height increases. When the man returned after several days, he found entering impossible. Peeping through the window, he saw about 3 feet of solid ice that had buried his food supplies, his stove, the bed and blocked the door. Some water had seeped through the upright logs and was frozen outside as seen in the photo. All efforts to stop the flow were unavailing. It continued to rise and freeze until it reached to roof and thus the owner was deprived of his home by Jack Frost."] To order a reproduction, inquire about permissions, or for information about prices see: http://www.lib.washington.edu/specialcollections/services/reproduction/reproduction Please cite the Order Number
