Summary:There is a documentation of Welsh cultural festivals and competitions celebrating music and poetry in King county as early as 1890. The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Eisteddfod Association of Seattle was made up of sponsors from all parts of Washington and Oregon. The competition was held in the Exposition Auditorium on August 27th and 28th, 1909. Caption on brochure: " Mor o gan yw Cymru i gyd", Translated: "Wales is a sea of song". Also shown is the 6th Regional Welsh Gymanfa Ganu, a "singing festival", held in conjunction with the Seattle Worlds Fair, June 28-30, July 1 1962.
