Summary:Icelandic-Canadian Robert John 'Bobby' Benson played defense for the Seattle Eskimos from 1929 to 1931, near the end of his long hockey career. His career began when he played four seasons with the Winnipeg Falcons of the Manitoba Hockey League from 1913 to 1917. During World War I, Benson played on military teams during his time with the Winnipeg 223rd Scandinavian Battalion. While traded quite a bit during his long hockey career, Benson served as a key defense player on the Canadian Olympic team in 1920 when Canada won the gold.
