Several of the buildings and the landscaping survive, continuing to shape the layout of the campus. The ticket or day pass pictured here was issued for August, 25, 1909, celebrated as Hawaii Day at the AYPE. The ticket features the Hawaiian phrase, "Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ??ina i ka Pono," which is commonly translated as "The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness." The phrase was adopted in 1959 as the motto of the state of Hawaii. Caption information source: "A.-Y.-P.
