Summary: | The Golden Potlatch was a summer festival held in Seattle from 1911 through 1914. Organized by city boosters, it was designed to promote business interests and keep newly-prosperous Seattle in the public eye after the Alaskan gold rush and the success of the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. The week-long festival included concerts, parades, aircraft and boat demonstrations. Seattle's annual Seafair celebrations each July continue the Potlatch tradition. The coffee bag pictured here is decorated with a special Golden Potlatch label by coffee importers Closset & Dever, and was made to promote the 1912 festival. 1 bag; 3.5 x 9.25 in.
