Filed in Yukon Territory This building was originally built for the Dawson Free Library and called the Carnegie Library. It was completed in 1904 with a $25,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation. With over 5,000 volumes of books, it was considered the most elaborate building in Dawson City. In 1920, after severe fire damage to the basement and main floor area the library was moved to the public school and the building was closed. Yukon Lodge No. 45 of the Freemasons purchased the building in 1932 for the sum of $400.
