Today, the influence of these settlers is still apparent in the steepled Russian church and some of the quays along the shore. The visitor to Kodiak can still view the actual mooring rings and stone wharves used by the Russian traders. Modern day travelers enjoy the temperate climate which allows them to take full advantage of Kodiak's scenic beauty.
