Two Kingikmiut Eskimos with dog sled loaded with walrus meat, Cape Prince of Wales, Alaska, between 1901 and 1906

Handwritten in album: Hauling walrus meat home. Skis are used for boat covers. PH Coll 49.37 Dogs were used to aid in transportation by pulling sleds over long distances. The dogs were not very domesticated and sometimes interbred with wolves in order to keep up a wild attitude.
