| Summary: | The incredibly popular 2019 Disney film Frozen II features Princess Anna and Queen Elsa trying to save the Northuldra people from a curse that has trapped them in the magical forest. The Northuldra people has been recognized as a representation of the indigenous Sami people of northern Scandinavia. Having Elsa and Anna save this Northuldra tribe recreates a popular Western white European and U.S. trope found in film and literature that imagines a white man or women who help people of color who can't help themselves (Hughey, White Savior Complex). My paper examines how Elsa and Anna are imagined to be white saviors and considers the significance of representing the Sami people in this manner.
