Pinguicula alpina (fjälltätört) på Gotland: pollination och fortplantning

Pinguicula alpina (alpine butterwort) has a strange distribution in Sweden. It grows in the alpine region and on the island of Gotland. On Gotland it grows in springfens.The purpose of this study is to see if P. alpina is depended on pollinators for its reproduction. Seeds, pollen and ovules from P. alpina flowers have been collected, in different sites on Gotland, to compare the amount between sites and treatments. Corolla variations and anther-smut fungi distribution varies between the studied sites.This study shows that P. alpina might not be exclusively dependent on pollinators for its seed production even though some insects are regular visitors. The pollinators that visitited P. alpina in the sites are Melanostoma scalare, Platycheirus albimanus, Lasioglossum fratellum, Lasioglossum albipes, Dasysyrphus, Empididae and Anthomyiidae. These are new to the list of potential pollinators of P. alpina.
