Summary: | In this bachelor project is carried out the design and implementation of a network of IoT sensors able of transmitting their position to the existing NVIS platforms, developed by the GRITS research group belonging to La Salle, Ramon Llull University. For this, the definition of the existing NVIS platforms and a study of various IoT technologies are carried out, with the aim of implementing the most appropriate communication technology for this project. As a result, the design of the sensor network is carried out according to the needs of the environment, making the choice and assembly of the devices using hardware equipment and the relevant configurations. In order to corroborate the results of both the study and the assembly of the devices, different coverage tests are carried out by deploying the network nodes in different areas with different characteristics. With the results obtained, the final choice of the devices and their configurations is deliberated, proceeding to performed the design for the connection between the nodes that make up the NVIS networks and the designed IoT sensor network. As a result, a network of sensors capable of transmitting their position over a distance of 13.55 km at a speed of 293 bps has been implemented using LoRa communication technology. All the progress of the project carried out will be tested during the years 2021 and 2022 at the Juan Carlos I Spanish Antarctic Base and the Artigas Base in Uruguay in order to corroborate the results.
