¿Cómo crear condiciones para la movilidad segura de peatones y ciclistas en Santiago de Cali?

In the article the author presents an alternative solution for the creation of secure spaces for pedestrians and cyclists. The proposal is based in the detailed diagnosis of the actual situation of both groups, and the critical revision of the measures realized in Bogotá and European cities. The author proposes the utilization of one of the two ruts of the roads in housing quarters, creating a red of lanes for cyclists and pedestrians all over the city. While the proposition is based on studies in Santiago de Cali, el author believes that the diagnosis and the solution might be applicable also in other cities of the country. En este artículo el autor presenta una solución alternativa para crear condiciones de movilidad segura para peatones y ciclistas en toda la ciudad de Santiago de Cali. La propuesta se basa en el diagnóstico detallado de la situación actual de ambos grupos, y en la revisión crítica de las medidas tomadas en Bogotá y en ciudades europeas. El autor propone como solución el uso de uno de los dos carriles ya existentes de las calles en los barrios de vivienda correspondientes a vías locales, creando redes interconectadas de un nuevo tipo de ciclo-ruta y andenes en toda la ciudad. Aunque la propuesta se basa en el estudio detallado de la situación en Cali, su autor cree que los diagnósticos y la solución son también aplicables en otras ciudades del país.
