CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS Stanley Brandon Kearl passed away in Magrath December 5/81 at the age of 88 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Mabel Mr. Kearl at the Family Ranch in Kimball, lived in Cardston most - - ■ - engaging in ranching and the stock business. He leaves to.mourn his passing his loving wife Mabel, two sons Wayne (Dorothy) of San Antonio, Texas Jack (Donna) of Cardston; two daugnters Shirlee (Charles) Marko of Albequerque,• New Mexico, Norma (Gaelynd) Pilling of Magrath; one brother Sydney of Edmonton; and numerous grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted from the Magrath LDS Chapel Wednesday afternoon December 9th. Boxed. 979 5“ SCARVES MAGRATH HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Raymond Comets posted a hard-fought 56-54 victory over Cardston Cougars to capture the 13th annual Magrath High School Invitational Basketball Tournament during the weekend. Cardston led at the half 25—22 and 42-39 at the end of three quarters. The game was tied six times and the lead changed hands four times throughout the game. Raymond reached the final with a 62-32 victory over Winston Churchill Bulldogs. Cardston advanced by downing the host Magrath Zeniths 66-53. In Friday night's action Winston Churchill Bulldogs prevented LCI Rams from capturing their fourth straight Magrath Invitational Basketball Tournament title, needing overtime to do it with a 56-52 victory. In other preliminary games Cardston Cougars dumped Coaldale Kate Andrews Gaels 76-32; Magrath Zeniths won over Blood Reserve St. Mary's Warriors 53-49; Raymond Comets won a 72-64 decision over Catholic Central Cougars. Line with wax paper. Grease wax paper. Spread batter on wax paper and then sprinkle chopped nuts on batter. Bake 15 min. @ 375'F Meanwhile, sprinkle (use sifter) icing sugar on top of linen tea towel Immediately upon removal from oven, dump cake on top of sugared towel. Pull off wax paper. Roll up cake in tea towel. Let cool 2 hours. Filling: 8 oz (or 250G) cream cheese (room temperature) 1^5 tsp vanilla 2 or margarine. Mix filling until is cool, unroll it on cake to the edges. Roll up again without towel. Refrigerate or freeze. 1 c. icing sugar Tbs. soft butter creamy. When cake and spread filling Magrath U.C.W. held their annual Christmas Pot Luck Supper Monday evening. Grace was offered by Rev. Betty Lynn Schwab and a delicious supper was enjoyed with men of the congregation in charge of serving. President Vicki Hepburn welcomed the guests following which the ladies took part in a Christmas Worship Service and Carol singing with Mary Yvonne Hohm accompanying at the piano. Mrs. Grace Toomer introduced the new Executive which includes President - Corrine Beck, 1st Vice - Alice Loucks, 2nd Vice - Martha Cahoon, Secretary - Vicki Hepburn, Treasurer - Betty Peirens, Program - Winnie Sparks, Dolores Rohleder, Cory Beres. Vicki thanked the retiring Executive 1st Pres. Corrine Beck, 2nd Pres. Barbara Lewis, Secretary Virginia Hillmer, Program - Grace Toomer, Marjorie Tomlinson, Norma Owens. The evening concluded with a gift exchange. Hostesses for the evening were Irene Ririe, Olive Train & Grace Toomer, Norma Arnold assisting. Turkey Tips: How Much To Buy? For roasting stuffed turkey, allow % to ■ 3/4 lb. eviscerated whole or cut,up raw turkey per serving, without stufi ing, allow 3/4 to 1 lb. per serving. Thawing Frozen Bird: Keep frozen turkey m original plastic bag. Refrigerator Method: Thaw on tray in refrigerator, allow about 5 hrs. per lb. Cold Water Method: Cover with . cold water, changing water frequently allow 1 hr. per lb. Room Temperature Method: Place turkey in brown paper bag or wrap in newsprint, allowing 1^ hrs. per lb. (outer wrapping allows turkey to thaw completely but keeps the outside temperature low enough for safety. Once thawed, remove from freezer bag, remove giblets, neck, from body and neck cavity. Rinse under cold running water, dry both inside and ou side. Examine for bits of lung, etc. If not roasted immediately place on rack in pan, cover loosely with waxed paper, plastic wrap or foil and refri erate. Use within two days. To roast, place on rack in shallo pan, breast down in small enough to turn easily on>its back during the la portion of roasting. CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS Stanley Brandon Kearl passed away in Magrath December 5/81 at the age of 88 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Mabel Mr. Kearl at the Family Ranch in Kimball, lived in Cardston most - - ■ - engaging in ranching and the stock business. Boxed. 979 5“ SCARVES MAGRATH HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Raymond Comets posted a hard-fought 56-54 victory over Cardston Cougars to capture the 13th annual Magrath High School Invitational Basketball Tournament during the weekend. Cardston led at the half 25—22 and 42-39 at the end of three quarters. The game was tied six times and the lead changed hands four times throughout the game. Raymond reached the final with a 62-32 victory over Winston Churchill Bulldogs. Cardston advanced by downing the host Magrath Zeniths 66-53. In Friday night's action Winston Churchill Bulldogs prevented LCI Rams from capturing their fourth straight Magrath Invitational Basketball Tournament title, needing overtime to do it with a 56-52 victory. In other preliminary games Cardston Cougars dumped Coaldale Kate Andrews Gaels 76-32; Magrath Zeniths won over Blood Reserve St. Mary's Warriors 53-49; Raymond Comets won a 72-64 decision over Catholic Central Cougars. Line with wax paper. Grease wax paper. Spread batter on wax paper and then sprinkle chopped nuts on batter. Bake 15 min. @ 375'F Meanwhile, sprinkle (use sifter) icing sugar on top of linen tea towel Immediately upon removal from oven, dump cake on top of sugared towel. Pull off wax paper. Roll up cake in tea towel. Let cool 2 hours. Filling: 8 oz (or 250G) cream cheese (room temperature) 1^5 tsp vanilla 2 or margarine. Mix filling until is cool, unroll it on cake to the edges. Roll up again without towel. Refrigerate or freeze. 1 c. icing sugar Tbs. soft butter creamy. When cake and spread filling Magrath U.C.W. held their annual Christmas Pot Luck Supper Monday evening. Grace was offered by Rev. Betty Lynn Schwab and a delicious supper was enjoyed with men of the congregation in charge of serving. President Vicki Hepburn welcomed the guests following which the ladies took part in a Christmas Worship Service and Carol singing with Mary Yvonne Hohm accompanying at the piano.
