During the last two years the "Trading Company1s" taxes have increased $453.71, now over two thousand. What has the town done to show for it? We did a paint job a year ago. Are we being penalized for that? What about your taxes0 Do they show an increase? The town wreckers have demolished one land mark. Where next? A resident of Magrath since 1919., Vernon A. Bennett passed away in Calgary Monday, September 30th following a lengthy illness. He was 79 years of age. Born in Cedar Fort, Utah, the late Mr. Bennett came to Canada in 1903, and had 1ived continuously in Mhgrath for the past 48 years. He had been confined to hospital in Cal­gary for the past few months. Survivors include his wife Mae, two sons Dean of Lethbridge and Rex of Vancouver; one daughter Mrs, Jay (Leola) Christensen of Calgary; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers Victor of Edmonton and Ennis of Black Diamond; three sisters Mrs. Myrtle Mills of Sp-.kane, Wash., Mrs, Louise Seiditz of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Hazel Phillips of Corpus Christie, Texas. A very successful L.D.S. Tournament was held at the Magrath Gold Course Saturday. Third Flight - Norman Fooks with Elden Coleman runner—up. Fourth Fli­ght - Joe Stevenson, Howard Francis runner-u up. Fifth Flight - Jim Prince, Archie Terry - runner-up. Ln the Junior Tournament DeVar Dahl won the championship with Allen Dahl runner-up. In the second flight Johnny Balderson won first with Bernie Brewerton runner-up. Mrs, Irene Strang is visiting in Salt Lake City, Utah, the guest of her son and daughter—inr-law Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Evans and will attend Relief Society Conference, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rohead of Fort Resolu­tion, N.W.T., and former Magrath residents, were renewing acquaintances in Mhgrath during the weekend.
