Library FOODHANDLERS COURSE SLATED FOR MAGRATH The Canadian Restaurant Association Foodhandlers Course will be conducted bv the Chinook Health Unit Health Insoection Branch on March 23rd, 24th, 1981 at the Magrath Town- Hall. e The Class will begin at 7 p.m. both evenings and both evenings must be attended to complete the course. The Course is open to all public foodhandling personnel, ladies catering groups and housewives or anyone interested in food microbiology. The bacterial quality of many foods is greatly variable, some foods are mori likely to carry pathogens capable of causing foodbourne illness than other types of food. Many of our peri shah 1 foods go through several food prepara- * tion processes as well as long periods of s.t.o.r.a ge and' t' ransportati‘ on,. This increases the possibility of an unfavorable bacterial growth. The housewife or restaurant operators must therefore assume an equal amount of responsibility for the proper handling of food. This course is geared to assist the handler of food to better understand the ways to maintan proper bacterial quality of the food we eat. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Soccer Registration will be final as of March 27th. All uniforms must be turned over to DeVar Dahl at the school. (Thank you Elizabeth - POLICE REPORT , if what is around s omeone Vandalism is fast becoming a major problem in Magrath and area. In a lot of cases it is government or public property which indirectly affects everyone, especially taxpayers. A great amount of these offences could be stopped, or at least detected people would pay attention to happening around them. If you see persons hanging buildings or property, or see damaging property, report it immediately, so that the police can check it out. The police, limited in numbers, cannot do it by themselves, they need your help. Communities that have little or no crime, are that way, because the citizens care about their community, and take steps to make sure crime doesn't get the upper hand. Now is the time for Magrath and area to act. As indicated in last week’s column, a month by month list of crime occurances will be given. To bring us up todate, the following are statistics for January and Feburary, 1981. f FEBRUARY 413 2 any indicat- Break & Enters Thefts over $200 Thefts under $200 Wilful Damage JANUARY 3 3 1 If these statistics are ion, 1981 looks like its off to a bad start. The 7 break-ins in two months is equal to one third of last year’s total, and the 6 thefts under $200 is one quarter of last year’s total. That’s just for the first two months. Cpl.
