Our club showed 7 choice calves with Debbie Schnyeder winning Grand Champion, and Joan Wocknitz winning Reserve Grand Champion. Debbie Schneyder also received first place in showmanship, with Duane Kesler winning second and Joan Wocknitz getting Honorable mention. Tim Fyfe -Club Reporter I would like to thank the Magrath Co-Op for purchasing my calf at the 4-H sale on July 3, 1980. It was greatly appreciated. Tim Fyfe June 30th saw the termination of Mrs. Phoebe Norton's tenure as Magrath Librarian. She has served faithfully and well. She knew the name of every book and where it could be located. In 1956 she became assistant to Errma Coleman. In 1964 at Mrs. Coleman’s retirement she became the full time librarian. Mrs. Doreen Alston, Chairman of the board,presented her with a token of appreciation from the Library Board and Town Council. Mrs. Hazel Dudley is the new librarian. The Board wishes Mrs. Norton happiness in her retirement. Thank you to all who helped in so many ways to make Lennie & Kelvin's wedding a special occasion. We appreciate all your hard work. Dinner for the immediate family was held at the Cobblestone Manor, Cardston, with Lance Miller, son of Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Miller giving the opening prayer and blessing on the food. Campers & tents arrived Saturday evening. A Sunday morning chorus practice begai in the Center at 10AM, Lunch at noon, Church services at 2 PM in the 3rd Ward, where the Hudson family sang "Cast Your Burden Upon the Lord" - directed by Gordon Hudson with Catherine Hudson at the piano and a violin duet by Cathie Harris and Peter Asplund. Supper at 6 PM was followed by a goal setting and business meeting. Monday morning began early with a pancake breakfast prepared by the young adults & teenagers. Then on to Waterton Park for motor boating, cycling and a much enjoyed talent show of mimes & fun features climaxed by a super dramatic reading by Kim Hudson. 54 family members were in attendance with four others unable to be there. A Lethbridge bus will come to Magrath for passengers, leaving Magrath at 8:00 a.m. in order to be at City Hall, Leth. at 8:45 for the official send off. The route is from Lethbridge via Stirling to Kimball park where we join a Cardston celebration. There will be a dinner & program there and at Cardstop. From Cardston we go to St. Mary's Dam and will be in Magrath for the Magrath celebration that evening. We cannot afford more than two bus loads. To those on the bus, mainly dignitaries and senior citizens dinner will cost $5.00 but to others it will cost $7.75. We need to know by July 15 in order to let the caterers prepare. Bus fare is paid for. At present all tickets are out but it is expected some will be unable to go, therefore we should be able to accomodate others to some extent. If we have your name we will do our best. Among other events at Kimball Park will be a musical ride and the unveiling of a plaque to Jack Dunn by Reeye Shelton Ririe. J. A. Joanne was born in Medicine Hat, Aug. 14, 1938. She was raised and received her schooling in Bow Island. In 1957 she married Roland Havens in Lethbridge and they resided in Enchant, Strathmore and Olds before moving to Magrath, where she was living at the time of her passing. Joanne is survived by her loving husband, Roland two daughters Cheryl and Nicole of Magrath and one son, Jae of Caroline. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3rd at 2 p.m. in the Upited Church in Bow Island. We would like to express our appreciation for cards, letters & gifts received. Bridge. Chorister for the service was Mary Baker organist - Alma Davies. Prelude & Postlude Music was by Afton J. Keeler. The opening’hymn was "0 My Father" with grandson Ronald H. Anderson giving the invocation. The biography was presented by Lolavee Jensen.A vocal Solo was rendered by Reece Gibb accompanied by Charlotte Fletcher. Bishop Bob West gave the concluding remarks. Closing hymn was "I Wandered Through the Stilly Night" with grandson Kevin B. Harker giving the benediction Dedication of Grave: James D. Bridge. Flowers carried by the Granddaughters. She was born February 6th, 1895 in Morgan, Utah and came to Magrath in 1913 where she resided until her passing. She is survived by five children; Avilda (Mrs. Garth Coleman) of Magrath Betty (Mrs. Pingree Tanner) of Magrath, Geraldine (Mrs. Henning Anderson) of Salt Lake City Utah James Dickson Bridge and John Henry Bridge both of Raymond, 28 grandchildren and 73 great ’ grandchildren and one brother Owen H.
