MUSEUM NEWS Our annual meeting for the History and Museum Assc. will be held on January 28th at 7:00 P.M. in the downstairs luncheon room of the Library/Museum building. We urge anyone concerned about our community heritage to attend. A woman asked the butcher: “Do you have a 20 pound roast?” The butcher wrestled the meat out of the refrigerator and put it down in front of the customer. The woman sighed contentedly and turned to leave. The butcher, who was eager to please, said, “That’s prime beef. How big a roast would you like?” “Oh, I didn’t want to buy it,” replied the woman. I’ve just lost 20 pounds and wanted to see what so much meat looks like.” The Magrath Museum would like to have a display of old wedding pictures of the past. If you have any, could you please lend them to the museum, so we can laser print them & return them to you. These photos are required for the Valentine's Day display, so please call either Bernice Miller at 758-6821 or Donna Lybbert at 758-3896 as soon as possible. ****** The Magrath Family History Library would like to express their appreciation for the community support of their Magrath Centennial Project. If there are still members of the community who would like to have their Family Group Sheet and Pedigree Chart included there is still time. These records will be made into two books and placed in the Magrath Public Library and the Museum. Due to the work involved in preparing and completing these books by July 1999, we have placed a deadline of January 31, 1999 for the acceptance of records. Choosing the best painkiller Jhether you're trying to • v combat arthritis aches or menstrual pain, you’ll need the right painkiller. • Aspirin is a well-known headache-fighter, but it’s also a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that relieves inflammation of everything from sprains to arthritis. It does this by interfering with prostaglandins, “ substances in the body that cause swelling. • ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin, Motrin) is an inflammation-easer that also relieves menstrual pain. One study found it relieved this pain either completely or partially in about two thirds of women. • Naproxen (Aleve), the newest NSAID, relieves pain for up to 12 hours so you can sleep through the night without discomfort. • Acetaminophen (Tylenpl) does not. ease inflammation, but it reduces fever and mild to moderate pain. An Indiana School of Medicine study found that it was as effective as ibuprofen for arthritis pain, with fewer side effects. MARK HARKER WILL BE AVAILABLE TO SEE PATIENTS AT THE DAHL CLINIC EVERY 3RD MONDAY OF THE MONTH IN THE AFTERNOON Nutrition Basics by Ted Bouvier One of the major factors to whether you will loose or gain weight is your metabolic rate. This determines how your body will use up the nutrients you take in. One way to increase your metabolism is to increase your activity level. When you increase your activity level, you need to increase your nutritional intake as well. To sustain your new activities, you should have 5-6 small balanced meals each day. By having a well balanced meal plan and a moderate activity level every day, you will start increasing your metabolism. This in turn will make your body more efficient in burning more calories. January is a popular month for many to begin to improve their health through nutrition and exercise. A professional fitness consultant can set up an easy to follow schedule for your needs and goals. This makes keeping your new goals even easier.
