As Magrath .High School , with an enrolment of only 140 students, is- the only band of schools under 800 students (grades 10 through 12) which competes at the -US National level, our kids were invited to lecture and teach high school ban/f” directors from all over the US and Canada. The end product of the experience will be a feature training film released through Master 'Teaching Seminars. The film" will be available this coming Spring. The following letter is an unsolicitied testimonial from one of the participating band directors. If I could teach my students to have these same qualities, our school would be on the map. Watching your students respond and Interact with other students, watching them take the initiate with other students they had never met before was inspiring. I asked your students directly, how they dealt with attitudes and peer problems. What I found is that everyone is included, each bandsman is wanted and your students mutually encourage continuous growth into tomorrow's generation. If our band, our students, could achieve just a portion of this, I'd consider myself successful and would feel I'd have made my mark in our school. Your students have left their mark in their school for ages to come and I think what they've learned, accomplished and taught will continue to affect not only others but will carry with them for the rest of their lives. The administration of your school should kiss their lucky stars that they have students of this calibre within the school: not just kids with technical skills, but kids with feeling, of emotional strength and deep character, with maturity and leadership qualities. They have it all! What your students said, did and accomplished at Whitewater was excellent. Watching them show the pride, the love and the mutual respect they have showed me what is lacking in our school. What is exciting is that you, Broc, care so much about them and they care about each other and in turn they radiate that love for others: it has come full circle! You've all learned to start with love and to end with love. It really makes it all work! In meeting and learning from your students, I've found something that's really worthwhile. In the culmination of what you've taught them, in what you've accomplished together and what you've brought to Whitewater, I've become a better teacher. Thanks! Yours
