MAGRATH NEWS Published Weekly Since 1932 by The Magrath Trading Company Wednesday August 23, 2000 35 cents GOLF TOUR AN EXPERIENCE! After arriving home, around 2 am last Friday night, from a whirlwind tour we got a chance to speak with Brooks Blackmer about his experiences. Coming from his last stop in Courtney, B.C. he says it was nice and a good experience. "A lot of things were paid for like the hotel accommodations, flights and things" Players from Edmonton, Medicine Hat, Sundry and Magrath made up the Alberta Team that placed 13 out of 16 at Redmond, Washington. "One of the better finishes for Alberta." Once they got to Courtney, B.C. for the Canadian Junior Championship they picked up Mike Mezei from Lethbridge for their Team effort in replacement for the Edmonton player. Mike also won the 4 day Canadian tournament. Out of the 280 kids that played in this tournament Brooks placed 57th. An excellent accomplishment. Since Brooks is only 17 he is still eligible to qualify for next years tour. special points of INTERESTS: *In the Ubrary *Ser>iors News ^Trading Company Grocery Specials ‘Home Hardware Sales Inside this issue: SPORTS 2 Community interests 3& 4 Real Estate & 5-6 Classifieds Tired of the same recipes? Over the August long weekend a person or persons went into the Magrath Nature Reserve and tore down a steel goose-nesting platform that was standing in water.
