Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sparks Last week Magrath, led by Bartley Harris’ hat trick, defeated the Raymond Tadooles 5-3. Other goal scorers were Dustin Miller and Danny Balderson. Dustin Miller and Jamie Godionton each had an assist. Trevor Hunter made several key saves ingoal. . Raymond goal scorers were Marc Heggie with a pair and Kenny Wright with a single. Scott Johnson added an assist. Macrrath 9 Raymond 1: On Monday the HfStSirrqtfei'travelled to Letbbrld8i for what was perhaps the highiigh year to play the Raymond Tadpole Hociey team in the Sportsplex. They responded with their best effort of the year when the scored a season high of 9 goals. Goal scorers for Magrath were Bartley Harris with 4 Danny Balderson 3 and Dustin Mille wiih 1’. Ryan Anderson and Danny Balderson had 2 assists each while Brent Bourne adde. a single. The defense consisting of Gavin Warnock, Aaron Herdman Trevor Dunlop Curtis Pealo, Chad Miller and John Ripley perhaps played ther best game of the season. PEL BONITA 4H BEER CLUB On February 16th the Del Bonita 4H Beer Club held it's monthly meeting at the school The Club decided to cater to the Alberta Wheat Pool meeting on February 24th. The Club members went skiing at Westcastle on February 25th when a good time was had by all. Saturday most of the 4H members trav­ailed to Ca'dston to participate in the Regional 4H Skating party. On Monday, March 14th the Club held their public speak-off at the Del Bonita School at 7 p.m. Winners of the Senior Section were Todd Carter 1st, and John Powlesland 2nd. In the Junior Section Mary Jo Powlesland placed first and Tobi Barnett second. The 4H members would like to thank the Judges and time keepers, also the mothers who served lunch. Club Reporter Todd Hoyt, Del Bonita 4H. Allan Skretting has been appointed as new Hospital Administrator for the Magrath Municipal Hospital, replacing retiring Gerald Leishman. His duties will commence May 1st. He was selected from 77 other apnlican ts. . Born in Lethbridge, Mr. Skretting is a graduate of the Lethbridge Community College in Business Administration and a graduate of a Hospital Administrators’ Course from the University of Saskatoon. Ke is 34 years of age. married, with a daughter and a son. . We welcome Mr. Skretting and his fanny to the Garden City. Beatrice Harker and Juliadean Bondy have returned from a ten day visit to Utah. Breatrice was the guest of Ken and Sharon Patey of Orem and participated in a P.A.F. Seminar (tapping into People Potential) ducted by Ken and Sharon. KG g89 Ethel Braithwaite of Magrath, passed' away in Blairmore Wednesday, March 16th 1983 at the age of 84 years, beloved wife of the late Joseph Braithwaite. Born September 21st, 1898 at Coalville, Jtah, she came to Canada with her Bar­ents in 1903 settling at Magrath. After completing her education she served on a LDS Church Mission in Eastern Canada. She married Joseph Deloyd Braithwaite In the Manti Temple December 24, 1928. Following the death of her husband in 19-32 she returned to Magrath where she has since resided. She is survived by one son Keith and his wife Sylvia of Blairmore, three grandsons Alan, Randy and Terry all of Blairmore; two granddaughters Mrs. Eal 'Diana) Currie of Lethbridge and Renee of Blairmore; one great grandson Ryan Currie; one sister Mrs. Louis (Olive) Fisher of Calgary. Funeral Services were held in the Magrath LDS Chapel Friday, March 18th ,vith Bishop Ray Stevenson officiating. The family prayer was offered by Hal Currie. June Cleavland attended, the memorial register. Organist was Kathleen Harker with Charlotte Fletcher as chorister. The opening hymn by the choir was "0 My Father". Invocation was offered by Jim Anderson. Jim Fisher gave the biography. Barbara Johnson • ang as a solo "Nearer My God Io Thee" . Speaker for the service was Pres. James . Bridge with closing remarks by Bishop ■tevenson. Cliff Miller offered the enediction. • Pallbearers were Gerry Leishman, Miller, Don Johnson, Dee Leishman, arry Granberg, Brian Johnson. Interment took place in the Manti Lty Cemetery. Eugene Salmon Dahl, beloved husband of Carol Lea Wocknitz Dahl, passed away suddenly at his farm north east of Raymond around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 1983 when the tractor he was operating rolled. He was 53 years of age. Born in Raymond, May 22, 1929, the son of the late Ronda and Lauretta Dahl, he was a successful farmer and was an accomplished jour­neyman welder. He was very active in the Raymond First Ward LDS Church. Besides his loving wife Carol, he is survived by five children Jennifer, Wayne, Allison, Cynthia and Regan; six sisters, Margaret (Gerald) Leishman, Zelma (Robert) Low, Janet (Ernest) Zobrist, Norma (Lawrence) Turner, Fern (Jack) Hicken, Diane (Brian) Dudley; one brother Dr. Mark Dahl. Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon, March 23rd at 1 p.m. at the Raymond Stake LDS Chapel with Bishop Richard Garside officiating. Interment took place in Temple Hill Cemetery. • •■••••• A former Magrath man, John Glen Poulits, passed away in Milk River Sunday, March 13th, 1983 at the age of 38 years. He was a resident of West Side Trailer Court, Lethbridge. Born, riased and educated in Magrath he moved to Lethbridge in the 1960’s. He -was employed with the City of Lethbridge. He is survived by one son Alvin, one step-sister Vonnie Ririe of Magrath, three step-brothers Bill Passey of Salmon Arm B.C., Collin Passey of Magrath, Darrell Passey of Calgary. . Funeral services were held Thurs. March 17th in Martin Bros. Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Erb officiat­ing.
