Spoons get tippy and Dribble your front. You put things away - And then have to hunt. The print's not so plain, So you clean up your specks, The hearing-aid gets faint And you say, "Oh heck". To balance on one foot . To put on your pants, You find you are doing A new kind of dance. But to get into pantyhose With an arthritic knee Is a feat that would boggle Even Houd ini. You start a good story And do the punch line first. But to forget when half through Is really the worst. That same old story Has been told o'er and o'er Until some are wondering If they can even the score. There are all kinds of problems, Some of them weighty, But you can do as you please When you get to be eighty. Now is the time to think Spring fashion. Look for Spring/Summer 82 casual and comfortable, with a variety being the key. There is no set length for anything, color choices are abundant from dark to bright, and from pale to neutral. , The big news is stripes - wide or narrow, vertical, horizontal or diagonal, rainbow-hued or two-toned, they can be seen everywhere. Look for the short, full skirts, a remake of the 60's minis. Contemporary fashions feature ease. Suits are varied. Jackets range from the short and unstructured to the long and blouson. The blazer and cardigan styling continue to be important. Skirts are often soft and ful.l. The length varies from above the knee to mid-calf. The slim and pleated skirts remain as classics . FABRICS: Natural fibres of silk, linen and cotton increase in demand. LINENS and SILK SHANTUNG looks create a textured effect. COTTON and COTTON BLENDS - seersucker, plisse, madra, chambray and poplin. Often coated to produce a shine and create a fresh, crisp look. SHEER and SEMI-SHEER fabrics voile, leno, gauze, georgette and muslin. Crinkled and rippled surface finishes are common. These fabrics given new elegance to blouses. MEDIUM WEIGHT fabrics - denim, stretch denim, twill, oxford cloth, sheeting, gabardine and t-shirt knits, are still popular in '82 as they were in '81. PRINTS are varied and exciting. Stripes are predominate. Also important are positive-negative prints; polka dots; country style gingham, checks, and plaids; nautical designs; cottage florals; exotic ethnic florals and geometries; and Oriental florals and graphics. White is featured with many prints. COLORS: Colors are intensified - brights and brighter and darks are darker, or toned down - neutrals and pastels have a whitened quality. Navy, fiery reds, oranges and yellows, clear blues and greens, deep earthy tones, desert neutrals, garden tints and soft pastels predominate. Metallics of gold, bronze, and pewter add a touch of opulence, can be found in the finest knits. Look for pure white or white teamed with navy, red or beige, ACCESSORIES: Shoes feature lower heels, often two-toned. Belts are soft and wide. Jewelry ranges from metal to wood with strong clean shapes and is tastefully used. Handbags come in all sizes, usually with clean lines. Colors to look for are pastels and neutral tones of bone and white. Colorful trims and braids are designed to compliment each fashion look. Look for quality in contemporary fashions.
