Narrator for the program was Claire Bogdan with narration by Elizabeth Davies. The opening prayer was by Vinessa Ham­ilton. Carol Dainard sang as a vocal solo "Green Pastures" accompanied by Alma Davies, Shirley Perry gave a reading "Love". Mrs. Maude Ririe rend­ered an organ solo "Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring". The Literary Club presented a number portrayed by Margaret Ririe, charter member of the Club which was organized in 1926. Marion Bourne read the constitution and Lorelle Gurney recited Shakespeare's "Kather­ine’s Advice to Wives" "The Charleston" was performed by Eliza­beth Strong and Kathleen Harker. Denise Norton gave a reading "The Mormon Myth". Alma Davies rendered a piano solo "Rhaposdy in C Major No. 3" by Ernst Von Dohnanyo. An original ' composition "The Pothole Creek Wc?"-" by Alice Stevenson, the words to a song written for Alberta’s Anniversary, The closing number was a vocal solo "Ich Liebe Dich" (I Love Thee) by Pris­cilla Brockway accompanied by Alma Closing prayer was by Ruth Nalder. Joann Ririe was recommended to the Provincial Festival, Calgary in Senior Speech; Tracy Neilson in Junior Speech. Festival High Marks were awarded to Barbara Bennett, Trumpet, with a mark of 90; Marilyn Norton, piano, 90; Joanne Ririe, concert, 90; Joann Ririe Story Telling, 90; Mary Lou Davies & Kathy Gruninger, Musical Theatre, 90; BAND: Trophy - trumpet - Barbara Bennett, Junior; Dan Davies, Senior. We thank Mrs. Elizabeth Davies most sincerely for the time and work she went to in order to get the above names of Magrath students for the paper. We appreciate the extra trip ai d phone calls she made to Cardston. Mrs. Davies told us of all the volunteer work and time the Cardston people put into the Festival besides the money and trophies donated by them to the Festival winners. Material and pictures for this book should be sent in by May 1, 1980. The Del everyone who _____ in a family story and pictures which can be includ­ed in the book. These stories should include family background, when and why the family ramp to the area, where did they homestead or from whom did they purchase land or business, their former occ­upation, unusual or humorous experiences or trials they had, family they raised and where they are now, improvements they made, as well as social activities and recreation they enjoyed. Try to picture the part women as well as men had in pion­eering and developing the community. All people now residing in these areas are asked to send in their family stories too, as this book is to be a history of these communites from their realiest beginnings to the present time. There will be special sections for brands, goldwen wedding anniversaries, military services, churches, clubs, organizations, methods of farming, special community celebrations, humorous anecdotes, old fashioned remedies, of seceral generations, former days. PICTURES tell more family pictures and any make the special sections of the book more interest­ing and authentic. Pictures must have sender’s name and address, identification of everyone if possible, date or approximate date, and a suitable caption on the back. All pictures will be returned. Suggestions for a suitable title for the book, and a cover illustration are welcome. A book will be given for the title chosen and one for the cover illustration used. The Del Bonita Historical Society reserves the right to edit if necessary. This southern border area of Alberta was the scene of the last great land rush for home­steads. There are many exciting stories about the development of these communities. Please do your part to preserve them for future generations. Darrel Harker, brother of the bride, of Edmonton flew to Las Vegas to give his sister in marriage. Friends were sorry to hear of the death of Marlene (Mike) Tollestrup, daughter-in­law of Tolley and LaVeta Tollestrup and be­loved wife of Jack Tollestrup of Lethbridge, who passed away March 17/80 at the age of 39 years. She is survived by two sons Wade and Derek and a daughter Tammy. Funeral services were held in the LDS East Stake House Wednesday morning. Born to Cam & Jennifer Spencer March 19/80 a daughter, Jane Elizabeth, to join her three brothers. Grandparents Hazel & Clyde Spencer hadn’t yet recovered from their happiness at the arrival of their first great grandchild, Aubrey Lynn, daughter of Shauna & Roger Davies who came along on March 13th.
