If teen age children do not want to go to church; the boss belittles one; or if the husband and wife are faced with conflicts or divorce, it showed the practical ways both can be united feeling each has won. It brings harmony and warmth. It also shows way to quiet distrup-tive classes. At the seminar a man and wife with eight children were moving towards a divorce. NOTICE: Magrath U.C.W. will meet in the Mag- rath United Church Tuesday, May 6th at 7:30 p.m. Corey Beres and Linda Maynard are cohostesses. All interested ladies welcome. The hostess was asking her guests to provide entertainment at her party. "Is there any instrument you play, Mr. Riley?" "Not away from my home," he replied. "What do you play at home?" she asked. "Second fiddle," Riley quietly said. One of the first fruits to come on are Strawberries, their sweet flavor and nice bright color rank them high on everyone's grocery list. When buying strawberries, look for those that are a bright, glossy red, have fresh gi’een caps and no dirt or soft spots. Flavor depends upon variety and ripeness, hot upon size. A touch of white means they are picked before they were thoroughly ripened. Strawberries are very perishable and bruise easily. Pick them up last on your shopping trip make sure they are put on top of the bag. Bring them home quickly, roll them out onto a flat pan. Pick out any bruised berries and cover the rest loosely with wax paper. Refrigerate them and use within two days. Hand wash berries gently just before using. Dip gently and quickly in cold water. Do not let them, soak in water as they lose their flavor and vitamins. Remove caps after the berries are clean and dry. One cup of berries contains almost as much Vitamin C as an 8 oz. glass of orange juice, more than your daily requirement. Strawberries are delicious served in even the simplest of combinations. Serve whole or sliced, with whipped cream, sour cream, ice cream. Add to fresh fruit salad to cottage cheese salad plate or top breakfast cereal. They make a superb dessert in pie, shortcakes souffle or b^varians. STRAWBERRY GLAZE: Place 1 cup washed, hulled and sliced strawberries in saucepan with % cup sugar, dash of salt, ^cup water. Bring to boil and cook 3 min. Combine 1% tbsp, cornstarch % cup cold water, stir into berries. Cook, stirring constantly until thick. Add 1 tbsp, lemon juice. Use as directed in Strawberry pie or as a topping for cheese cake, tarts, on layer cake filling. Kathy Bosse, D. H. E. H. E.
