For the Town to over attempt to pay for half the gravelling of the highway running through tho north of the Town limits seems tc us an unreasonable undertaking. The government should have put the road oither through total or out of town. Magrath gets no benefit of tho road, whatever,,yet we are asked to come to the aid of the government in gravelling and maintaining it. The town treasury must be flushed Lath money this fall. ’ There are tax payors who pay hundreds of dollars yearly and they have never had a load of gravol within a block of their homes. The gravelled, highway north of town should have been tho last road to recoivo attention. Peterson demonstrated the making of broad to the Relief Society members. Some women took it to heart and some didn’t. There are always people who can make better bread than the demonstrators (That’s what they say). We hope the next demonstration will be butter. This was very forcibly impressed upon our minds on Wednesday when a woman leaving for California wanted four pounds of good raneh butter. When ranch butter is well made it is better than creamery but the average woman doesn’t work her buttor half enough. Butter should be washed and salted and worked for hours until all the buttér milk and water is out of it. Butter, when well made, will stand up like à can of corn beef. There’s ten or twelve women who are excellent butter makers, who bring their butter into the store and it is always in demand and then there is butter that will not stand up. It is flat before it reaches town due io the lack of proper care. We have just mentioned a few, but there are BO other things that are required in order to make good butter. It is the poor butter makers who bring down the price; so we would recommend very strongly to the presidency of th© Second Ward Relief Society that their next démonstration be on the manufacture of butter and they have 100$ attendance.
