We ask all spectators to avoid parking their cars along this route. Recently Danny Balderson of Magrath was selected to the Zone 1 ( South of Calgary) Midget ( 15 and under) Basketball team. The Zone 1 team participated in the Alberta Championships in Red Deer July 5-7th. Zone 1 went undefeated in the tournament capturing first place with a 2 point victory over Edmonton in the final game. Other members of the 12 player team were from Raymond, Taber, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, and Claresholm. The coach was Allen Gallup of Nanton. Magrath Curling Club On behalf of our family we would like to thank everyone in Magrath for the kindness you have shown us. We have many fond memories in the short 31 years we have been here. Four players from Magrath were named to the 14 player team. They are Bart Harris, Danny Balderson, Kenny Wright, and Kevin Strate. Southchief's first game is Friday, July 20th at 6 p.m. against Calgary. They also play Saturday, July 21st at 3:00 p.m. and Monday, July 23rd at 4:00 pm, and Wednesday, July 25th at 6:00 p.m. Come and support the team -- Should they be successful and win the tournament they will travel to Sherbrooke, Quebec for the Canadian Championships held August 3-11. The Major ( 12 yr. old) All-Star team recently won a 10 team All-Star tournament in Claresholm and are now participating in the District Playoffs ( July 17-23). The top 2 teams will advance to the Prarie Championships which will be held July 18- August 2 in Fort McMurray. Members of the team from Magrath are Mark Mehew, Darren Baker, Bryce Strate, and James Smith. Coaches are Don Mehew and Jim Ralph. Funeral Services for the late Dannel M. Holladay, who passed away June 29, 1990, were held in the Warner L.D.S. Chapel Tuesday, July 3rd, with Bishop Jim Fisher officiating. Memorial register was handled by Elda Mueller and Anne Turner. Ushers were Marvin Conrad and Ervin Hillmer. Organist was Sandra Nelson and Kay Thomas was the chorister. The family prayer was offered by Delmar Holladay. Reid and Doreen Anderson sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" followed by an invocation by Delon Erickson. Biography was given by Allen Holladay. A musical "Teach Me To Pray" was rendered by Nyal and Freda Fletcher. The speaker was Floyd Anderson and the closing hymn was "0 My Father." Benediction was offered by Roy Hirsche and the Pallbearers were Jim Holladay, Wayne Holladay, Bob Blumell, Keith Russell, Shawn Holladay, Brett Holladay, Briant Gurney, and Reed Blumell. Interment took place in the Magrath Cemetary. AGRICULTURAL FAIR: Have you got your baking, crafts, garden produce, and flowers ready for this year's fair?
