A GOOD PLACE TO THADE CANADIAN ARTHRITIS & RHEUMATISM SOCIETY NEWS RELEASE It has been announced the Magrath United Church Women have volunteered to raise funds during September for the Society’s attack on Arthritis. They realize that the chronic diseases of which Arthritis is a prime example, have replaced acute diseases as the nation's most critical health problem. It is weld, to -understand that, though the cause and cure of this crippling disease are not yet known, the progress of arthritis can be checked and severe disability prevent ed in four out of five patients. The Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society seeks to improve delivery of health care services for arthritis patients* In the past 22 years it has brought the problem of rheumatic diseases from almost total neglect to a point where the control of arthritis may not be far away. Much as been accomplished, but much, much more needs to be done. The Society asks your support of its campaign so that it may better serve the people of the community. The Johnson families - decendents of Victor and Ellen Johnson, held a Family Re­union Saturday, July 1st. There were 122 relatives with 3 visitors present with fam­ily members coming from Inuvik, N.W.Tj Las Vegas, Nevada; Utah; Vancouver and through­out Alberta. A delicious dinner and program was en­joyed in the Magrath Assembly Hall followed by a wiener roast at Jubilee Bark in the evening. Mrs. Jennie Johnson had all of her nine children home including Mr. and Mrs. Ervin (LaVaun) Judd of Alder Grove, B.C.; Mrs. Ella Bennett of Vancouver; Mr. and Mrs. Grant (Grace) Litchfield and family of Cal­gary, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Johnson and family of Calgary, Mr. and Mrs. Archie (Ida) Camp­bell and family of Lloydminster and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon (Delilah) Schmitt and children of Milk River. Residing in Magrath are Mr. and Mrs. Don Johnson and family, Mr. and Mrs Bob (Hazel) Gorham and family and Mr. and Mrs. Clell<(Margaret) Hogenson and family. There were 37 grandchilden and one great grandchild in attendance. Mrs. Kate Morrow, 82 year old widow, and citizen of Magrath was attacked early Satur­day morning by an unknown assailant who broke in the back door of her home. She is reported in satisfactory condit­ion in the Magrath hospital following the attack when she received stab wounds in the throat and abdomen. Mrs. Morrow was able to call neighbor "Berta” McClain who gave first aid until the doctor arrived. POT HOLE TRAIL RIDERS Are you preparing for July 24th events? Mr. and Mrs. Hollingsworth visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wurzer on their return from their honeymoon. Mrs. Margaret Hindley, Mrs. Juliadrad Bondy and Mrs. Prudence Poulsen of Lethbridge left July 5th to visit with Mr. and Mrs. A. MacArthur and family in Deep River, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. MacArthur are the proud parents of a new baby daughter. The ladies plan to travel on to Palmyra, New York to attend the annual L.D.S. Pageant. Mr, and Mrs. Bill Whitt are receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter born July 5th in the Magrath Municipal Hospital. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Williams of Raymond and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Whitt of Magrath. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Meldrum happily announce the arrival of a grandson Cameron Shaun Wednesday, July 5th. Proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Meldrum of Coaldale. Maternal grandparents of Mr. and Mrs. Emel Jesse of Coaldale. Mr. and Mrs, Donald Ripley are receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter born Monday, July 10th. A GOOD PLAGI1 TO TRAUt Funeral services for the late Mrs. Minnie Thrall, beloved, -wife of Mr. Ralph A. Thrall Sr. of Lethbridge, were held in First Baptist Church, Lethbridge, Saturday afternoon with Rev. Keith Churchill offic­iating. Interment took place in the family plot Mountain View Cemetery. Mrs. Thrall passed away Thursday, July 6th following a lengthy illness! Survivors include her husband Ralph, prominent Lethbridge businessman and owner of McIntyre Ranching Co.; one son Ralph A. Thrall Jr., daughter-in-law Cathy; four grandchildren and two sisters Mrs. Bessie Rose of Lethbridge and Mrs. Nel lis Moore of Vancouver, She was predeceased by daughter Barbara in 1948. Mr. and Mre. Rene Peirens have returned frcm an enjoyable holiday in British Colum­bia. Mrs. Jane McKendry has returned home from Eston, Saskatchewan where she was acc­ompanied by her brother Mr. L. Crowshaw who was returning to his home following a visit in Magrath. A pretty wedding was solemnized in the Alberta Temple, Cardston, Thursday, July 4th when Joanne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Crookshank of Quinell, B.C. and David., son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stearns of Magrath were united in marriage. The happy couple will make their home in Prince George, B.C. where David is lecturer in the Department of Forestry at the Prince George College.
