Summary:The annual publication of the students of Hamilton Junior High, Lethbridge, Alberta.(1983-84) H ami Iton Junior High School Each For All 1983-84Principal’s Message PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Once again you are browsing through a year's record of events that represent many fond memories experienced by you this year. The photographs in years to come will provide proof that yes, you really did look like this in 1984. As a team we have worked well. The Challenge to improve academic standards was accepted and achieved through dedication and great effort on the part of the students and staff. Now take this success and in the words of a famous grade nine student, "Go For It." Set a goal for yourself, for without a goal success is only a gamble that you cannot afford to take. Farewell Grade IX's. You are moving forward to High School, another step upward toward the realization of your dreams. Visit us often but please be courteous in your dealings with Hamilton, for as the years go by you will remember these days with fondness. To you who are returning - keep up the tradition. "Each For All" says it all, but Hamilton pride makes it work. 2 President’s Message PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Well, another year at Hamilton has passed already. It seems we only just started the year and now it's over. But seriously, I've had a good year. I think school spirit has been excellent, shown through the turn out at dances, all of the social committee's hard work, and expecially the work and response to the talent show and air band day. Again this year if you didn't get the spirit you probably didn't get involved enough. Hamilton is a great school with a great staff. To all the Grade 7's and 8’s, good luck next year. To the Grade 9's, I'll see ya next year in senior high. Have a STUDENT COUNCIL EXECUTIVE FRONT ROW Warren President Warren Orchard (President) BACK ROW Kory Kohuch (Treas.) Cheryl Bailes (Soc. Dir.) Most of our staff was dedicated enough to come all year and work on this.long Yearbook and we finally pulled through. We'd just like to say "Thank goodness it's done!" Stephanie Ciesla 63 Valedictory Good evening ladies and gentlemen, fellow students and honoured guests. Tonight we are celebrating our first graduation. It is a time of happiness tinged with some sadness. Happy and excited that we will be going to high school and sad because we are leaving Hamilton. We have all grow, since our first day as mischievous grade seveners. We have found and formed a new identity. We have lost our youth and gained adulthood. Hamilton and its staff has also grown along with us. Our teachers were once strangers, but now many of them are our friends whom we can talk freely to, about almost anything. As students of Hamilton we have built up pride and many memories which we shall cherish throughout the remainder of our lives. We have developed mentally, emotionally, and physically. Doing well in school and having good times with our friends are most important to us. It is how we balance this out, that is the difference between us. Without a friend success means nothing because there is no one to share it with. We would like to thank our parents, too. Without them we would not be as successful. They have always been there for us and their support means a great deal to all of us. It is now when we enter high school that we strive towards our future being the best that we can be. The goal of yesterday will be the starting point of tomorrow. I wish you all the best of luck in achieving your goals and becoming a success. I thank Hamilton and its staff for three great years, and all of the students who have made them so memorable. Thank you! Sherrie Parascak 64 Class History Hi! We're here tonight under force from Mr. Kosaka. Really, we're here to reflect back on three interesting years. Do you remember your first fun filled day at Hamilton? It was the day that we became acquainted with Hamilton and some of the teachers. When everything had been put in order and we had filled out all of our everlasting forms, sheets, and timetables our classes started. Most of the teachers we met were friendly and easy to get along with, and then there was Mr. Syme. He was, and still is famous for his obsession with board notes and interesting jokes. Then there was Grade 8. Grade 8 was the time between Grade 7 and 9 (for those of you who didn’t learn anything in math). Once again, we were herded into the large gym, but this time we knew what was happening. We had gotten used to everything and so we knew all about Mr. Kosaka's detentions in room 25, Phys. Ed., and all the other routines. But it was not all fun and games. The serious part was maturing. It was when we went from Grade 7 kids, to Grade 9 adults. Some of us matured, some of us didn't, and some of us are still trying to figure out what maturity is. Even though Grade 9 is coming to a close, we can still look back at our final year. As well as Grade 8, Grade 9 has been a time to mature and learn to understand Mr. Steen's and Mr. Syme's DUMB jokes! (kidding of course). We have also learned about some of the kids we've been with for the past three years. For instance, we learned Gregg Gamble's weight without clothes. However, most of us are all friends so we have little to worry about going into high school. For those of you who dislike school, have a good summer. To those who enjoy school, what's your problem? Seriously, our junior high days are over and we have two things to say. Thanks Hamilton for three terrific years, and we will miss you alot. BushellIn Memoriam STEPHANIE C IE SLA Stephanie will be remembered by the students and staff of Hamilton Junior High as a considerate, gentle mannered individual who excelled in whatever she did. In Grade 7 she won all academic awards available, as well as Honors with Great Distinction. In Grade 8 she repeated these accomplishments, setting a precedent in that no student had ever swept all the top awards two years in a row. In Grade 9 she was well on her way to repeating the same feat. Outside of school, she was involved in church functions, sewing, ballet and tap dancing and at Hamilton, she was a member of the Wind Ensemble where she played the flute. These activities brought her many hours of enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment. Indeed, all who knew Stephanie, feel a tragic loss, but we're left with the memories of a remarkable young woman. Tiffany LyonsIn Memoriam KATARINA PETERSON The students and staff of Hamilton Junior High will always remember Katy for her winsome smile, and her outgoing personality. Katy always had a pleasant outlook and was always happy. She was everybody's friend. Katy's interests included weightlifting and music. She joined a weightlifting club at school and played the clarinet in the school band. She tried very hard at all activities and always did her best. In conclusion, we feel all those who knew Katy and were close to her, feel a tragic loss. We all have our own personal memories of her, but the one special thing is that a young girl touched the lives of many. They've supported you. influenced the things you've done, and accepted your need to be you and not just one of them.
