Das Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit ist das Werk ,,Faust“ von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe zu analysieren. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei in der Charakterisierung des Werkes als eine Tragödie. In dieser Arbeit wird die Stellung vertreten, dass 'Faust' keine wahre Tragödie ist, sondern eine Ironie der Tragödie. Durch das Prisma der Charaktere werden Hauptereignisse bearbeitet und auf der Suche nach einem tragischen Geschehen oder einer tragischen Persönlichkeit werden die Figuren auch analysiert. Wegen der Abwesenheit der Elemente, die dieses Werk als eine prototypische Tragödie bezeichnen würden, werden Thesen dargestellt, die die Grundlage für eine tiefere Analyse des ursprünglichen Werkes anbieten. The objective of this thesis is the analysis of the work “Faustus” by Johann Wolfgang Goethe with emphasis being placed on labelling the work as a tragedy. The assertion is that “Faustus” is not a tragedy at all, but a mere irony of the aforementioned. It is through the characters that the key events are analysed and the figures themselves are observed in order to pinpoint the tragic event or characters. Due to the absence of elements that would make this work a prototypical tragedy the propositions for a deeper analysis of the original work are placed. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je analiza djela ,,Faust“ od Johann Wolfgang von Goethea s fokusom na kategorizaciju djela kao tragedije. U ovom radu se zauzima stajalište da ,,Faust“ nije tragedija, već ironiziranje iste. Kroz prizmu likova obrađuju se ključni događaji u djelu te se sami likovi analiziraju u potrazi za tragičnim činom ili likom. Zbog odsutstva elemenata koje bi činile ovo djelom prototipičnom tragedijom postavljaju se teze koje stvaraju podlogu za dublju analizu izvornog djela.
