Description
Summary:Recent years have clearly witnessed profound changes in the Arctic environment. The most arresting indicator of these changes has been the dramatic melting of Arctic sea ice in northern hemisphere summers. The severe downward trend in sea ice cover has been evident over the last decade with especially large losses in summer sea ice cover, as compared with the long-term average recorded over the past five years since the record sea Arctic ice minimum extent recorded in 2007.
