Description
Summary:August 1, 1931. Kjerulfs [Kjerulf] Fjord. Extreme inner end. In background on right; L.A.B.'s Curry-comb Peak with its glacier facing north over Right Valley and its deeply grooved sides, with snow patch over cleft, forming west (S.W.) side of Left Valley --which shows in photo, with stream descending it. On extreme right of photo is mt. [mountain] range forming the west side of Kjerulfs [Kjerulf] Fjord; where mts. [mountains] are seen reaching Curry-comb Peak they turn westward and form the north side of Right Valley. On left: mts. [mountains] forming eastern side of Kjerulfs [Kjerulf] Fjord: On reaching a southern extremity, opposite the snow-capped range (showing in hollow at background of photo) this mt. [mountains] range turns. E.N.E. to form the north side of Dickson [Dicksons] Fjord. Below the mts. [mountains] in the hollow can be seen just a glimpse of what later proved to be Hisinger Glacier [Hisinger Gletscher], as it comes from S.S.W. and descends N.N.E. into Dickson [Dicksons] Fjord. See 27-1-22. A line of 55 icebergs, 15 to 18 ft. in height, were stranded at the inner end of the Fjord. Photo taken from motor boat going to inner ends, looking south.
