Keeping suffers from a fractured psyche as a result of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and struggles to reintegrate himself into society, alienated from his family and environment. The work includes elements of epistolary fiction, as letters from Keeping's great grandfather, a soldier of the First World Word, are interspersed throughout. The use of narrative disjunction reflects Keeping's psychic fragmentation. Master Thesis Newfoundland University of Windsor, Ontario: Scholarship at UWindsor
