(00:25-03:36) 3. CARICOM countries are expected to have a meeting in Bangkok in an effort to consolidate issues to be covered in negotiations such as those of the World Trade Organization. Jamaica ambassador Richard Bernal will be representing his country and the regional negotiating machinery at the Bangkok Conference to present issues and concerns of small island developing states. (03:37-06:05) 4. Attorney General of Trinidad, Ramesh Maharaj, says creating the Caribbean Court of Justice does not rely on external agencies. Maharaj is not denying Caribbean governments are making propositions to European agencies for additional court funding. (06:06-07:48) 5. There are less than 2 weeks to go for Anguilla’s general elections on March 3rd and as such political and independent parties have fully immersed into campaigning. The two newcomers in the race are being closely watched by the two party opposition alliance and the Chief Minister’s party. (07:49-09:19) 6. In St. Lucia celebrations should be on the way in grand style today as the country commemorates its 21st anniversary of political independence from Britain but heavy rains placed a damper on those plans. Functions such as the independence parade and cultural activities unfortunately had to be cancelled. (09:20-11:06) 7. A new judge in the U.S. will be presiding over the case of 6 year old Elian Gonzalez, the Cuban boy caught in the middle of an international dispute. This replacement is due to the fact that the judge originally slated for this court matter had suffered a stroke. He was expected to hear opposition of the ruling to send Elian back to Cuba.
