I have propped a piece of lumbar to the side of the mic to block the wind gusts. A piece of thin fleece is drapped over the mic to protect it from rain and snow. Longspurs, Pectoral sandpipers, and Red-necked phalaropes are quietly and almost desperately feeding in the snowy grasses and along the edges of the frozen puddles.
