Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) was a British educator. Based on her experience, she developed a method of working with children based on twenty principles. She is the author of the Ambleside Geography Books series of geography textbook and the series of book on education and teaching: Home Education, Parents and Children, School Education, Themselves, Character Development, Towards a Philosophy of Education, and The Savior of the World. In her works, she referred to the views of other educators, including Jan Amos Komeński, Jan Fryderyk Herbart and Jan Henryk Pestalozzi. In the book Home Education: Raising Children under 9, she described the principles that parents should follow when working with younger children, as well as specific tips for teaching specific subjects. She proclaimed that „children are born as persons” and it is the parents’ responsibility to remember this, to respect the dignity and personality of the child. Currently, especially in the United States, but not only there, the assumptions of its method are eagerly returned to and implemented in practice in home education. Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) była brytyjskim pedagogiem. Na bazie swych doświadczeń opracowała metodę pracy z dziećmi opartą na dwudziestu zasadach. Jest autorką serii podręczników do nauki geografii zatytułowanej Ambleside Geography Books oraz serii książek dotyczących wychowania i nauczania: Wychowanie domowe, Rodzice i dzieci, Edukacja szkolna, Sami, Kształtowanie charakteru, W kierunku filozofii edukacji oraz Zbawiciel świata.W swych pracach nawiązywała do poglądów innych pedagogów, m.in. Jana Amosa Komeńskiego, Jana Fryderyka Herbarta i Jana Henryka Pestalozziego. W książce Wychowanie domowe: wychowanie dzieci do lat dziewięciu opisała zasady, którymi w pracy z młodszymi dziećmi powinni kierować się rodzice, a także konkretne wskazówki dotyczące nauczania poszczególnych przedmiotów.
