Some time after 1822 he, together with four of his eight children, Elizabeth, Catherine, James and Alexander, joined his eldest son John Maule at 'Bowsden ' , Jericho, V.D.L. John Maule Hudspeth, 1792-1837, after medical training undertook work as ship's surgeon, finally with the Hudson Bay Company in 1815. In 1817 he started practice in Bowsden, married Mary Lowrey, an old school mate in 1819 and emigrated to V.D.L. in 1822. He had an appointment as Assistant Colonial Surgeon but his major interest was his farming property 'Bowsden'. Also includes letters from Lt.Governor Sorell, J.Scott, Colonial Surgeon, Major T.
