Description
Summary:DPS (dynamic positioning system) has been widely used infloating structures, especially in deepwater area. Time domainsimulation of platforms with dynamic positioning system hasgreat significance to DP capability and riser system. Motionresponse of a deepwater semi-submersible platform with DPSon time domain was presented in this paper. PID (proportional, integral, derivative) controller and thruster allocation methodwere applied in numerical simulations of DPS. Wind, currentand wave environmental loads were analyzed and limitedangular speed was considered as well. Thruster failure analyseswere covered and discussed also. Experiments of DPS in deepwaterbasin of Harbin Engineering University (HEU) werepresented and compared with numerical study.
