Elephant seals help solve 30-year mystery
An ecological program to better understand elephant seals has unexpectedly helped scientists identify a fourth source of Antarctic 'bottom water'.The earth's global ocean circulation, and therefore our climate, is believed to be driven by this cold, dense water.
