Summary:The presence of ice shelves affects the rate at which ice sheets discharge grounded ice into the ocean and, consequently, indirectly affecting the rate of sea level rise. The seasonal variability of the circulation and water properties beneath the Amery Ice Shelf (AIS) are investigated using data from an instrumented mooring deployed through borehole AM1 in 2002, about 100 km from the calving front of the AIS.
