Therefore, a series of experiments were conducted to confirm whether the Tasmanian population of Atlantic salmon were capable of regulating their metabolic rate under progressive hypoxic regulation. Additional experiments were conducted to determine if regulation continued through seawater transfer, how individuals recover from a hypoxic event and to determine critical thresholds in a number of physiological parameters in order to define a hypoxic event.
