1. IntroductionThe review by Boger (2011) is a timely andmilestone synthesis of thegeology of Antarctica, and heroic in scope. However, in such a task, it isnatural that details will subsequently come to light that may alter theauthor's conclusions. Such details are outlined here, with the purposeof drawing attention to a body of literature on Antarctica's offshoregeology and the timing of final breakup from Australia, which did notfeature in Boger's (2011) otherwise comprehensive review.The first point of discussion is the timing of final breakup betweenAustraliaAntarctica and India at approximately 132 Ma. The secondpoint is the claim that seafloor developed between Australia andAntarctica at 96 Ma.
