U ovom radu razmatra se razvoj hrvatskog morskog brodarstva. Pomorski promet glavni je nosilac i pokretač trgovine u svijetu. Odvija se pomorskim prometnim putevima koji objedinjuju velike industrijske, prometne i trgovačke centre i njihove luke, na kojima se formiraju tokovi pomorske robe. Definirana je struktura pomorskog teretnog brodarstva, kao i sami počeci razvoja hrvatskog teretnog brodarstva. Analizirana je Hrvatska udruga brodara Mare Nostrum, njezine članice te je provedena kvantitativna analiza stanja flote korištenjem dostupnih statističkih podataka na službenim stranicama udruge Mare Nostrum. Hrvatsko morsko brodarstvo i sve njegove podvrste pretrpjeli su velike promjene tijekom povijesti, na primjer tijekom svjetskih ratova ili velikih gospodarskih kriza. Većina cjelokupnog međunarodnog teretnog prometa odvija se morskim putem. Intenzitet, smjer, struktura i dinamika kretanja pomorskih tokova važni su pokazatelji koncentracije svjetskog prometa. In this paper, the development of Croatian sea shipping has been examined, in other words the development of Croatian merchant marine from the first use of steam engine and steel ship up to today. The paper describes the structure of maritime freight transport as well as the beginning of the development of Croatian freight transport. In the final thesis Croatian shipping association Mare Nostrum is analyzed, its members and quantitative analysis was made. Statistical data from the official website of the association Mare Nostrumwere used to perform the analysis. Croatian sea shipping and all of its subcategories had a few crises throughout history, such as the world wars od big economics crises. Since the largest part of the total international goods transports by sea, the intensity, direction, structure and dynamics of maritime cargo flow are relevant indicators of the concentration of world traffic.
