Das Untersuchungsgebiet umfasst die Nordküste Islands, einschließlich zweier Fjorde, des Eyjafjörður und des Skagafjörður, wohlhabende landwirtschaftliche Regionen. Die Vegetationsdecke in Island ist den Auswirkungen des rauen Klimas, der Landnutzung, der Viehweide, der Gletscherabschmelzung und des Vulkanismus ausgesetzt. Die Daten umfassen das Landsat TM-Bild. Die Methodik basiert auf der Berechnung von Rasterbändern zur Simulation der Quastenkappentransformation (Feuchtigkeit, Grünheit und Helligkeit) und des Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), der empfindlich auf hohe Biomasse reagiert. Die Ergebnisse umfassen modellierte drei Bänder für Helligkeit, Grün und Feuchtigkeit. Die Grünvariation weist in eisbedeckten Gebieten die geringsten Werte auf (-56,98 bis -18,69). Hohe Werte (-23,48 bis 9,12) liegen in den Tälern mit dichter Vegetation vor, was mit der Geomorphologie des Flussnetzes, der Vegetationsfreien Gebiete und des Ozeans korreliert, was dem Höchstwert von 30,87 bis 41,19 entspricht. Die glockenförmige Datenverteilung zeigt eine Häufigkeit von 43,19–141,74 für die Vegetation, was auf einen gesunden Zustand und eine Überdachungsdichte hinweist. Maximalwerte liegen in eisbedeckten Regionen und Gletschern (64°N-65°N). Sehr niedrige Werte (0 bis -20) zeigen Wüstenbildung und bergige Felsen an. Moderate Werte (20-40) deuten auf eine gesunde Vegetation hin. Die häufigsten Daten: -28,17 bis 11,8. Der EVI zeigt Datenschwankungen (-0,14 bis 0,04). Die Studie trägt sowohl zu den regionalen Studien des arktischen Islands als auch zum methodischen Ansatz der Fernerkundungsdatenverarbeitung durch SAGA GIS bei.
