Manlio Brosio (Torino, 10 luglio 1897 – 14 marzo 1980) è stato segretario generale della NATO dal 1964 al 1971; nel suo diario i riflessi di un periodo di trasformazioni destinate a segnare l’evoluzione delle relazioni internazionali del secondo dopoguerra. Dopo avere ricoperto l’incarico di ambasciatore italiano in prestigiose sedi diplomatiche, la segreteria della NATO porta Brosio al centro del sistema internazionale da un osservatorio privilegiato e sensibile come l’Alleanza atlantica. La narrazione degli eventi si intreccia con riflessioni e impressioni dell’autore, offrendo così un nuovo, significativo, strumento per comprendere l’evoluzione degli equilibri internazionali della guerra fredda. Manlio Brosio (Turin, July 10, 1897 – March 14, 1980) was the NATO Secretary General from 1964 al 1971; the diary is a reflection of the events and transformations which have affected the evolution of international relations during the years following World War Two. After his period as an Ambassador in several Italian diplomatic seats, his job as the NATO Secretary General brought Mr. Brosio in the milieu of the international system from a place both privileged and sensitive such as the North Atlantic Alliance. In this volume, the tale of the events Mr. Brosio experienced is intertwined with reflections and impressions by the Author, thus offering a new and meaningful tool to understand the evolutions in the international balances during the Cold War.
