ICE WEDGES IN THE TERRA NOVA BAY REGION (NORTHERN VICTORIA LAND, ANTARCTICA). DISTRIBUTION AND MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES

The widespread presence of ice wedges, both along coasts and in inland areas of northern Victoria Land was ascertained. The presence of a vertical fissure in the centre of ice wedges indicates that thermal contraction-cracking processes are active under present climatic conditions.
